Joy – Truth revealed

I am so grateful that God called me, has purpose for me, despite having lived for myself most of my life.  I did not come to know Jesus as my Lord and Savior until I turned 50 years old.  I thought I knew Him, I thought I was saved, but didn’t comprehend the love and the grace and the power of God through Christ Jesus until He met me where I was at.  I was attending a local church, but began recognizing that I needed more in my life to be full of joy.  But other than feeling good for a day or two,  I had no change in my life.  I needed more.

I made that decision to follow Christ Jesus and soon discovered that the world had nothing to offer that fully satisfied compared to standing before God worshipping  and praising the One who knows me best.  I made the decision to be water baptized (though I was baptized as a baby) and seek real change in my life, the Holy Spirit filled me and for probably the first time ever in my life, I experienced real joy.

Joy is such a precious commodity that scripture has much to say about joy.

Jesus stated in John 15:11 (KJV):
These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you, and that your joy might be full.

Luke 10:21 (KJV):
In that hour Jesus rejoiced in spirit, and said, I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them unto babes: even so, Father; for so it seemed good in thy sight.

Hebrews 1:9 (KJV):
“God has anointed the Lord Jesus with the oil of gladness above his fellows.”

Luke 15:7 (KJV):
I say unto you, that likewise joy shall be in heaven over one sinner that repenteth, more than over ninety and nine just persons, which need no repentance.

John 16:24 (KJV):
Hitherto have ye asked nothing in my name: ask, and ye shall receive, that your joy may be full.

Nehemiah 8:10 (KJV):
Then he said unto them, Go your way, eat the fat, and drink the sweet, and send portions unto them for whom nothing is prepared: for this day is holy unto our Lord: neither be ye sorry; for the joy of the Lord is your strength.

Matthew 25:21 (KJV):
His lord said unto him, Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.

We live in a society that we keep thinking that the next phone, the next car, the next house, or the next job will complete us.  But the truth is, none of these things will truly satisfy your thirst that your cup of joy would overflow.

The joy of the Lord is my strength,in times of trials, affliction, and persecution for my belief that Jesus is the only way to heaven.  He paid the ransom, full and complete, so that a sinner like myself could receive forgiveness of my sins.  The joy that I have, the joy that I carry, is offered to all who would make Jesus their Lord and Savior.

I encourage you, that if you are in a place of discontent, unable to keep your cup overflowing with joy, that you humble yourself before God.  Ask Him how your joy may be full.  Ask the Lord God Almighty to meet you where you are at and help you through the process of learning about the joy that the world knows not of.  It can only be found in Jesus and being willing to let go of those things that do not bring you joy. Through the process of discovering the love of God through Christ, His Son, you will find that joy.

1 Peter 1:7-9 (KJV)
That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ:
Whom having not seen, ye love; in whom, though now ye see him not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory:
Receiving the end of your faith, even the salvation of your souls.

The world has shown hands lifted high to be a show of defeat, as in surrendering to be arrested. But for the true believers it is a show of victory honoring the King of Glory.
