Are you saved? You may say yes, but are you sure? Many people believe they’re going to heaven, or are hopeful. One day your life will come to an end here on earth and you will spend eternity in one of two places – heaven or hell.
At some point you’ve probably been asked by a friend, “I have news, do you want the good news or the bad news first?” Let me assure you, friend, what may at first sound bad, will be followed by the VERY good news!
Matthew 7:21-23 (KJV)
21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.
22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?
23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.
Reading that scripture may cause fear. You do not want to be part of that ‘many will say to me…. ‘ so how can you be sure you are going to heaven? First, understand that there is not one of us who is deserving of being able to stand before the Lord God Almighty who is Holy, Holy, Holy! We have all sinned against God.
Romans 3:23 (KJV)
For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;
Sin has caused us to be separated from God. but what exactly is sin? If you ask one person, their definition will vary greatly from another’s. But look what the bible describes as sin:

All unrighteousness is sin: and there is a sin not unto death.
James 4:17 (KJV)
Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth [it] not, to him it is sin.
1 John 1:9 (KJV)
Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind, Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God.

But I say unto you, That whosoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment: and whosoever shall say to his brother, Raca, shall be in danger of the council: but whosoever shall say, Thou fool, shall be in danger of hell fire.
Now the works of the flesh are evident: sexual immorality, impurity, sensuality, idolatry, sorcery, enmity, strife, jealousy, fits of anger, rivalries, dissensions, divisions, envy, drunkenness, orgies, and things like these. I warn you, as I warned you before, that those who do such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.
It may appear hopeless at this point when we examine ourselves through our eyes especially when we read the first part of the next scripture. But there is hope! God made a way for us not to be separated from Him.

For the wages of sin [is] death; but the gift of God [is] eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Here’s where the VERY good news comes in!
John 3:16-17 (KJV)
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.
Luke 19:10 (KJV)
For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost.

Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live:

Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
Jesus, Son of God, came to earth, took on flesh, to save us all! He paid the price for our sins. It is very important to note that Jesus is the ONLY way to get to heaven. By believing that He alone is the gateway to heaven. We cannot earn it by our works!

Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.
