People say they believe in God, but when are they going to start believing God? (my Pastor JoAnna Davis asks that alot). I have always been considered a nice, good person who believed IN God but I was spiritually dead–with no hope, low self-esteem, living day to day in poverty. I didn’t BELIEVE God.
Then I found a good church where the Spirit of the Lord was invited to have free reign, where I found conviction, correction, and not just the encouragement to get into God’s Word, but the truth of the responsibility to read the bible myself. The pastor was radical and on fire to save souls for Jesus.
Jesus came into my life, and delivered me from oppression, healed my back, gave me His peace that passes all understanding when I was going through a rough time believing things would be okay. I am a walking, talking testimony of the love of Jesus. He delivered me, set me free, healed me, AND provided a new roof to my house at no cost to me. Now THAT is prosperity. And I am believing God is able to and will do so much more. And the cool thing is He is not a respecter of persons, what He is doing for me, He wants to do for you. Now you may be thinking how can I say “Jesus” did all that. Read it for yourself:
“And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.” (Matthew 28:18) There IS power in the name of Jesus! Hallelujah!
The devil is a liar. The bible says in John 10:10 “The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy”: He’s come to steal your joy, kill your hope, and destroy your faith. But in the second part of that verse lies our victory in Jesus: “I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.”
And as for my Pastor, she continues to grow in her walk and faith! In fact she heard from God so clearly He brought favour upon her to open up a second church and God’s Outreach Deliverance International Church in Creston, IA just celebrated our 6th year anniversary yesterday. I’m so grateful God drew me to that particular church.
Find a church home that doesn’t just make you feel good, allow yourself to find a place that feeds your soul. Don’t allow comfortability to keep you in a place where it hasn’t put an urgency to allow God to mold you and shape you. We all fall short of the glory and we are all sinners in need of Christ. But remember this: we will stand before God and give an account of our lives, we won’t have our friends and family standing there with us for support. You may have to walk away from some people, some family, some friends. But keep your eyes on the prize: spending eternity in heaven with God!
