I just posted on Instagram tonight, a beautiful scripture: “Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God” (Matthew 5:9). And as I usually do, I thought about the scripture: what it takes to be a peacemaker. It sounds easy enough, right? One that loves (check), one that is not quarrelsome (check), one that is a not a backbiter… (check… most of the time). OUCH! Conviction where my speech can cause trouble. Lord, I still need help from time to time with this!
Just because we may post about Jesus doesn’t mean we think we’re perfect or better than anyone else. It’s the realization we are sinners and in need of JESUS! I hear so often that people stop attending church because of the hypocrisy. But here’s the thing, I am a work in progress just like every other person attending church.
Don’t walk away from church because people fall short of your expectations. We all fall short of the glory (Romans 2:10). Come back to church because you have purpose for the kingdom of God! Come back because you are missed! Come back because you are needed! Come back because of the fellowship, to exhort one another (Hebrews 10:25).
Don’t allow someone else’s shortcomings to hinder what God has for you. Just saying… you’re missed, more than you’ll ever know if you don’t come back.
